Henry A. Hänni Scholarship
Awarded to one candidate per year
This scholarship honours Prof. Dr. Henry A. Hänni, a notable gemmological scientist and educator who served as Director for SSEF’s from 1990 to 2009.
Prof. Hänni was a passionate scientist and educator who travelled extensively to gemstone-producing regions, building relationships and sharing expertise with local gemmologists. His contributions significantly advanced the field of gemmology. This scholarship continues his legacy by supporting the next generation of gemmologists.
Scholarship Details
Who Can Apply: Open to applicants from gemstone-producing countries.
Course Options: Choose any SSEF course taking place in 2027.
Covered Costs: Tuition, economy-class flights, and hotel accommodation.

1. Submit your application
Complete the online application form on this webpage before the application deadline.
2. Shortlisting and selection
Once applications have closed, SSEF will review all submissions and create a shortlist of candidates. Shortlisted applicants may be asked to provide reference letters and/or participate in an online interview.
The successful scholarship recipient will be announced on 16 December 2026.
