SSEF Education Scholarships
Terms & Conditions:
By submitting an application for an SSEF Education Scholarship, applicants acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.
1. Eligibility

- Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements specified for the relevant scholarship.

- The Henry A. Hänni Scholarship is open to applicants from gemstone-producing countries.

- The George Bosshart Scholarship is open to applicants worldwide.

- Applicants must provide accurate and complete information in their application. SSEF reserves the right to reject an application or withdraw a scholarship if information provided is found to be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading.

- SSEF may request supporting documentation to verify an applicant’s eligibility.
2. Scholarship award

- Two scholarships are awarded annually, one for each scholarship programme.

- Each scholarship is awarded to one individual and is personal and non-transferable.

- The scholarship cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, another course, or any other alternative.
-
- The scholarship has no cash value and cannot be transferred, sold or assigned to another person.
-
- The scholarship covers the SSEF course specified in the scholarship announcement. It does not automatically include participation in other SSEF courses or programmes.
3. What the scholarship covers
Unless otherwise stated in the scholarship announcement, the scholarship includes:

- full tuition fees for the specified SSEF course;
-
- economy-class return flights to Switzerland;
-
- hotel accommodation for the period specified by SSEF in connection with the course.
SSEF will determine the applicable travel arrangements and accommodation. Travel and accommodation must be arranged or approved by SSEF and may not be reimbursed if independently booked by the scholarship recipient without prior approval.
4. What the scholarship does not cover
The scholarship does not cover expenses other than those expressly stated above. This may include, but is not limited to:

- visa and immigration fees;

- travel insurance;
-
- meals and personal expenses;
-
- local transportation, except where expressly arranged by SSEF;
-
- excess baggage or additional luggage fees;
-
- costs associated with extending or changing travel arrangements;
-
- accommodation or travel outside the dates approved by SSEF;
-
- costs incurred by accompanying persons.
Any additional costs are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient.
5. Travel and visa requirements

- Scholarship recipients are responsible for ensuring that they have the necessary passport, visa, permits and other travel documents required to enter Switzerland and attend the course.

- SSEF may provide reasonable supporting documentation for a visa application but does not guarantee that a visa will be granted.
-
- The scholarship does not cover costs arising from a visa refusal or delay.
-
- Travel must take place on the dates and according to the arrangements approved by SSEF.
6. Course participation

- Scholarship recipients are expected to attend and actively participate in the full course for which the scholarship is awarded.

- The scholarship cannot be transferred to a different course or course date unless SSEF agrees otherwise.

- If a recipient is unable to attend, SSEF may, at its discretion, offer an alternative course date or withdraw the scholarship and select another recipient.

- No cash payment or compensation will be made for any unused portion of the scholarship.
7. Selection of recipients

- Applications will be reviewed by SSEF according to the criteria established for each scholarship.

- SSEF’s selection decision is final.

- SSEF is not obliged to provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

- If a selected applicant does not meet the eligibility requirements or is unable to accept the scholarship under these terms, SSEF may select an alternative recipient.
8. Cancellation or changes
SSEF reserves the right, where necessary and for reasons beyond its reasonable control, to modify the course dates, course programme, travel arrangements or other aspects of the scholarship.
If SSEF is unable to provide the scholarship as originally announced, it will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative. SSEF will not be liable for any additional costs or losses arising from changes or cancellation beyond its reasonable control.
9. Publicity
By accepting the scholarship, recipients agree that SSEF may announce their name, country and scholarship awarded and may use photographs, testimonials or other information relating to their participation in SSEF’s scholarship programme for educational, promotional and communications purposes, subject to applicable data protection and privacy requirements.
10. Personal data
Personal information submitted as part of the application will be processed for the purposes of administering the scholarship programme, assessing applications and communicating with applicants and recipients. Personal data will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and SSEF’s privacy policy.
11. General
SSEF reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions where reasonably necessary, including in response to circumstances beyond its control.
SSEF also reserves the right to withdraw a scholarship if the recipient breaches these terms and conditions, provides false or misleading information, or engages in conduct that could reasonably harm SSEF’s reputation.
By submitting an application, applicants confirm that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
